Post-traumatic Stress

Post-traumatic Stress

  • When an individual is subjected to intense emotional and traumatic situations —such as assault, rape, torture, war, vehicular accident, accidents at work or natural disasters— these may lead to trauma, with the experience of fear, anxiety or horror. The individual may experience paralyzing fear, persistent re-experiencing of the event, hypervigilance, and affective insensitivity.

How can psychological support help?

  • Psychological support can assist the individual in exploring traumatic experiences, such as rape, crime, aggression, accidents, losses, bullying, chronic illness, among others, and become aware of how these seriously affect their emotional stability.
