Envelhecimento e Psicoterapia de Idosos

  • A adultícia avançada pode trazer questões e dúvidas em relação às escolhas e consequências que decorreram desde o início da vida até ao momento presente.
  • Nesta fase podem surgir problemáticas quanto à solidão, perdas significativas, lutos difíceis, mudanças na intimidade e sexualidade, decréscimos de saúde, dificuldades de integração, alterações físicas, dinâmicas familiares, dependência e desesperança. Por vezes, uma circunstância de saúde fragilizada pode passar despercebida, e por isso o idoso pode não aderir a uma intervenção adequada. A psicoterapia pode fornecer a ajuda especializada, nestes casos.

Como pode ajudar a psicoterapia de idosos?

  • A psicoterapia de idosos pode contribuir para compreender as mudanças de papéis, problemáticas emocionais, físicas e incapacidades, e outros desafios próprios do envelhecimento e contribuir para a aderência a tratamentos, para a integração das diferenças, definição de projetos futuros, e para o bem-estar e qualidade vida dos idosos. As técnicas utilizadas, evidenciam o momento presente como integrado no ciclo biográfico do idoso, permitindo a perspetiva de que esta fase da vida é uma etapa produtiva e gratificante com bem-estar, e explorando a possível presença de limitações comuns nesta fase.
